Grape Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier
Producer Upperton Vineyard
Winemaker James Rogers Alcohol 12% Bottle size 75cl
Andrew Rogers bought the land at Upperton in 2005 and planted his first 800 vines. This wonderful family run vineyard now has 32,000 vines lying along the A272 between Midhurst and Petworth. The view of the South Downs from these vineyards is absolutely spectacular. The vines are always immaculate and that ethos clearly follows through into the creation of their very well made wines.
No tasting note but we have copied the Upperton website description for this wine. It’s too good not to give you the whole lot – hold tight. ‘Darkness cloaks the valley. The crisp night air is silent and still. At Upperton, such nights are essential. Our quality sparkling wine demands superlative fruit composition born of such sun-filled days and cool brisk nights. At its darkest point, night trembles on the brink of the Aurora (Latin – “Dawn”). As the flawless sky blossoms into a new day, the true beauty of Upperton is revealed. Once again the Aurora both divides and inseparably links darkness and light, bringing with it the suns rich blessing and the morning dew, and the fruit continues its march to perfection… Precision blending gives full expression to the grapes produced in this unique setting and makes this wine distinctly special. The imposing strength of Chardonnay is matched by the deep, rich qualities of Pinot Noir and complemented by the soft, gentle warmth of Pinot Meunier. The balance and freshness of Aurora will captivate the senses’
